In plain English
Eden Gardens is a community app. What you post (board posts, listings, minyan votes, your name and photo) is visible to other signed-in members. Your email address and home are private unless you choose to show them. We do not track your location, use analytics or advertising, or sell your data.
Who we are
The Eden Gardens app is run by ZevOps ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Eden Gardens apps for iOS and Android, the web app, and the public minyan links. Eden Gardens is an independent community app. It is not affiliated with, operated by, or endorsed by the Eden Gardens HOA or any resort management company.
Your account
You sign in with an email address and password, with Apple, or with Google. When you set up your profile we ask for your name, email address, the Eden Gardens home you are staying in, and whether you are an owner, renter or visitor. The street name of your home is checked against the community's street list. We don't verify ownership or residency.
Information we collect
Profile
Name, email address, home address, owner/renter/visitor type, an optional profile photo, any skills you list, an optional description of a service you offer, the community groups you belong to, and your notification settings.
What you post and do in the app
Board posts and replies, likes, channel messages, photos you attach, minyan proposals, votes and party size, minyan commitments, event RSVPs, and reports you make about posts.
Listings
Service offerings, including the phone, WhatsApp or email contact you enter, and rental listings, including the address, size, price, contact details and photos you enter.
Guest passes
When you request a gate pass, we store the guest's name, your note, the dates, and your name and address. Pass codes are stored only as one-way hashes.
Restaurant orders
The items you order and the Square order reference. Square processes the payment; we never see your card details.
Trust and verification
How many verified neighbors have vouched for a service you offer and whether you have a community-trust badge. Who vouched for whom is never shown to anyone. Invite codes are stored only as one-way hashes.
Push notifications
If you turn on notifications, your device's push token and platform (iOS or Android).
Every photo is resized and re-encoded before upload, which removes embedded camera data such as GPS location.
What we don't collect
- No device location or GPS. The community map shows fixed points and never reads your location.
- No contacts or microphone access.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs, and no advertising identifiers or tracking.
- Photo and calendar access are used only when you choose to attach a photo or add an event to your calendar.
Who can see what
- Other signed-in members can see your posts, replies, likes, minyan proposals, votes and commitments, event RSVPs, service offerings and rental listings, along with your name, profile photo and any skills you list. If you turn on "share address", your address also appears on your posts and replies.
- Rental listings are visible to all signed-in members, including the full address you enter.
- Channel messages are visible to the members of that channel's groups, or to all signed-in members if the channel is open.
- Community admins can see account details, including email address, home address and user type. They can also see reports, and guest passes when checking a guest in at the gate.
- Anyone, without signing in, can see the community schedule, promotions and public event details. These never include personal information.
Otherwise, your email address and home address are visible only to you and community admins. Skill labels and trust badges are self-described or community-based; they do not verify licensing, certification, insurance or medical qualifications. Please treat anything you post as visible to the whole community, and never post gate codes, alarm codes or other security information.
Public minyan links
A member can create a private, expiring link to one minyan proposal. Anyone with the link sees only the proposal's title, date, time and response totals, and can answer Yes, Maybe or No without an account. Their browser keeps a random identifier so they can change their answer. We store only a one-way hash of it, along with the answer, and never ask for a name or email.
Notifications
If you turn on notifications, you may receive alerts about new posts, channel messages and minyan updates, including a reminder when a minyan is a few people short. Alerts show the author's name and the start of the message, and can appear on your lock screen. Minyan reminders you set are stored only on your device. You can mute post types and channels in the app, or turn notifications off in your phone's settings.
Service providers
We use these providers to run the app. They receive only what they need to do that.
- Google Firebase: sign-in, database, photo storage, server functions and web hosting. Data is stored on Google's servers.
- Expo push service, Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging:deliver notifications. They receive your push token and the notification text.
- Square: processes restaurant orders and payments. It receives your name, email address and order.
- Apple and Google sign-in: if you choose them.
- U.S. National Weather Service: the home-screen weather. We send it one fixed coordinate for the community, never your location or profile.
- OpenStreetMap, unpkg and Unsplash: map tiles, the map library and some images. Your device loads these directly, so these services see your IP address.
We may disclose information when the law requires it, or when it is reasonably necessary to protect someone's safety or investigate abuse. We do not sell or rent your data, or share it for advertising.
On your device
The app keeps a copy of recent community content and your profile on your device so it opens quickly and works offline. Your minyan reminder choices and the weather are also kept there. This copy stays on the device after you sign out; uninstalling the app removes it.
Reporting and moderation
You can report any post. Community admins review reports, can remove posts and replies, and can block accounts that break the community's rules. When you report a post, we store which post you reported and your account ID so admins can follow up.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest on Google's infrastructure. Database and storage rules limit who can read each kind of data as described above. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't post anything you would not want neighbors to see.
How long we keep information
We keep your profile and content while your account exists. When you delete a post, offering or rental, it is removed along with its photos. When we delete your account, we remove your profile, sign-in account, profile photo, posts, replies, messages, listings and their photos, guest passes and push token. Deleted data may remain in Google's routine backups for a limited time before it is overwritten. Records Square keeps about orders are governed by Square's policies.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile, and turn address sharing on or off, at any time in the app.
- Delete your own posts, offerings and rentals in the app.
- Mute post types and channels, or turn off notifications.
- To delete your account and everything linked to it, email support@zevops.dev from the address on your profile. We will confirm and delete it within 30 days.
- Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under laws such as the CCPA or GDPR to access, correct or delete your data. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
The app is intended for adults in the Eden Gardens community. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above and note the change in the app.
